The 70's Are Calling. . .

One good thing about having a dye day at guild is that the leftover dyes come home with me. I painted a few warps this morning, mostly for hand towels and napkins. These are cottons: 8/2 and 5/2, both unmercerized, and some flake. They will be sett at 20 ends per inch, the usual, for, the usual, gifts.
I just hope that the recipient's kitchens can handle this:
and I sincerely hope it does not presage the return of Harvest Gold and Avocado appliances, the stuff of nightmares.

I knew someone with an avocado bathroom suite which was unappealing in so many ways. It would have looked stunning set off with a towel in those colours. It might even have drawn the eye away from the water marks and toothpaste stains.
I'd love to be on your Christmas list (even though my kitchen is more 80's colours)

Having been the lucky recipient of Sara's hand woven goodies (not to mention the Scotch) I will happily give a home to any "left overs" no one wants.
And yes I did have an avocado green fridge in the 1970's . Those were the days my friends, along with the 60's,80's,90's and present!
of course i love the colors! thanks for your help last night! i had a ball. i wanted to dye more- only one shirt was tortuous. i don't know if i can wait till friday to unveil it-i may have to go bury it in the yard and roll a large boulder over it. gooble gooble!

My kitchen is green.......
Nightmares indeed! My mother was so enamored of Harvest Gold and Avocado Green that she decorated my room in those colors. To this day, I struggle when I see either color!
My first apartment almost ruined turquoise for me - when I walked in my "new" kitchen, I discovered everything was that color - the counters, the walls, the floors, the sink, the fridge. Mom thought it was great. I felt like I was drowning.
I figure it took about 20 years to learn to like avocado green. But like all things, including the pink and grey bathroom, everything comes 'round again. Turns out I really love most of those greens now. That is one happy colored warp.
It could be much, much worse. The bathroom suite in my flat is maroon. With grey and pink wallpaper.
See? Much, much worse. I'd really rather like an advocado bath instead.
What? Those are lovely. Not appliance-y at all.
Oh, yes! Avocado, gold, and paprika. Those were the colors of my first kitchen and I have to tell you I still love those colors - just not on my appliances anymore.

Supposedly if you hang onto something long enough, the style will cycle back again. Looks like you made it, and you made it in spades, though I don't remember the paprika. Of course I had green shag carpet~
Love the colors, but then fall is my favorite time of the year.
