Retreat Day One

Tahoe

Another sunny, and warmer day.

Retreat days are a blur, busy and long, despite shorter classes. May I be honest and say that I am less than enchanted with 3 hour seminars, ever???

They work as short introductions about a new subject, as a place to learn one quick technique, as a place try a new fiber. They are brain-frying, to teach and, I think, to attend.

But now the shadows are long, the scotch is poured, the feet are up, and the evening festivities begin!

Day Off

Thursday is a variable day at SOAR, some classes, the gallery is open, and the vendors are open! I fell down at the Fiber Optic booth:

And Deb fell down at Opulent Fibers:

We had a spa day and lunch out at the lake. It is beautiful out now:

We came back and visited with friends, some from home who traveled up for the market, and lots who have been here all week with us. We are getting ready for dinner and the evening program: Deb Robson.

I love my life.

SOAR Day Two

A new day, a new outlook!
SOAR day2

Still cold, more winter than Autumn, but we are warm, well fed, and happily bundled in woolens. This is the place to see and wear all those hand knits and handwovens we have brought!

Yes! Snow, wind, ice and slush.

Fear not we are warm inside, spinning, with good friends, hot chocolate, fires alight and good food! We don't have to leave for a week, so we are hunkering down.

Who can close the door on a cute baby out canvassing for votes with her Dad? With Cheerios.

*The title? Edna St. Vincent Millay. Despite prickles and sharpness all around, sweet fruit.
